Church and Monastery of San Lorenzo
Founded in 1652, the Monastery of San Lorenzo was for centuries one of the most important and populous religious complexes in the Marche, housing up to 150 nuns and 250 lay sisters. Despite difficulties caused by Napoleonic and post-unification confiscations, the religious community managed to survive thanks to the support of the local residents. The present complex, which includes both the Monastery and the Church, with its simple yet harmonious architecture, is no longer home to the religious community but is set to undergo restoration that will return it to its former splendour and give it new purpose.
